Artist Statement
I take notice of our surroundings, our environment, and draw my inspiration from the societal issues that bind us. I embrace an organic fluidity and integrate it into the formal, capturing a minimalist, yet complex, subjective aesthetic. Thru sculpture, I juxtapose these observations into art utilizing materials such as metal, casings, hair, ceramic, resin, bone, organic forms and found objects. I intertwine the soft and hard. They collide and precariously exist. I have created it and it has taken form. By combining these materials with metaphor and my own sculptural interpretation, I relay the little control we are given because of society’s stresses, norms and expectations.
